  • Advisers:  Commissions

    Only licensed investment advisers are entitled to receive commission (or sales fee).  Any commission is paid from the capital raising fee applicable to the product and is not an additional cost to the client.

    The commission structure is product-specific, please see below.  Options for payment may include:

    • upfront commission;
    • a combination of upfront and trailing commission; or
    • trailing commission only.

    Some products provide the facility for advisers to rebate their upfront commission to their clients. Rebated commission is used to buy additional securities.

    It is not Abacus policy to pay or rebate commission to direct investors. However Abacus may, at its discretion, enter into arrangements with wholesale investors.

    Upfront commission is paid monthly, with payment to your dealer group by 15th of the following month - ie. commission payable for the month of February is paid by 15 March.

    Trailing commission is paid quarterly, with payment to your dealer group by 15th of the month following the end of the quarter - ie. commission payable for the March quarter is paid by 15 April.

    If you have rebated your commission, this will be reflected in the Confirmation Statement which shows the amount invested and the number of securities issued. Confirmation Statements are sent to the address on the application form.
