Evolution

On the former Town Hall site, Ashfield Mall opened on September 20 1983, built by Coles Group and anchored by Coles, Fosseys, Target and Kmart. Ashfield Mall was acquired from Coles Group by QIC and then later acquired by Abacus in September 1997. Target closed their doors in 2006 and Ashfield Mall underwent a major redevelopment that included a Woolworths and additional speciality stores. In 2013, the foodcourt was redeveloped to include a new Aldi store. This was closely followed by another major redevelopment featuring the addition of 101 apartments named “Ashfield Central” as well as a refurbishment of main entry to the centre. In July 2018 ISPT acquired a 50% stake of Ashfield Mall from Abacus Property.
